Manny Machado needs to reassess his defense

I am listening on MLB.com radio and just heard our 3B made another throwing error, in the 9th inning, creating a save situation. It is already his 7th error on the season. Britton's just coming in the game as I type this so I don't yet know the outcome.

This is beginning to be a legitimate problem for Manny. We all know he can pick it, he knows he can pick it, but it seems like his fundamentals are lagging. He made an off balance throw, off the wrong foot, and lo he made a throwing error. "It was an unnecessary error", said Joe Angel. "Machado had plenty of time to set himself and make a good throw." I'm sure Buck and the coaches are all over it, I just hope Manny is listening.

You should reassess your assessment. It was BS that it was called an error.

While I do think Manny is sometimes held to a higher standard than other fielders, I don't think he was in this case. He did a good job getting behind the ball and had plenty of time to get the runner. Instead of taking his time, he rushed the throw.

Maybe I missed something, but it looked like it was going to be a close play anyway.

I don't know if it's a real problem or not. Manny makes a lot of good plays too.

Sorry but I am not really concerned about him.

He had time to set his feet and didn't.

Yeah, bad foot work. Played the ball well.It would be an error for any ss imo. The argument seems to be he's really a third baseman and not a SS so he gets a free pass. Don't buy it.

It was from the SS position in the shift and he had to charge. Not a routine play at all for a 3B. I agree with you that the trend is concerning.

So then why play Manny there in the shift if it causes a difficult play every time it is hit there? I have to believe they practice the shift since they use it so much in game. That has to be routine for Manny by now
